Over The Wall needed a new, modern, responsive and easy to update website - so we delivered.

Overview

 

We were commissioned to perform an overhaul of Over The Wall's existing WordPress website, including a complete redesign, build, managed hosting, new content and new platform functionality.

Over The Wall is a UK charity that provides residential summer camps for children and their families coping with serious illnesses and conditions. It is a member of the SeriousFun Children's Network, a worldwide association of camps for young people. adaptiVLE has previously worked with them to realise their online children's camp, Camp in the Cloud.

Mobile-first approach

 

The website was developed using WordPress and features a new bespoke theme and page layouts.

 

As their old website wasn't responsive across different digital devices, we made sure to build the new site with enhanced mobile support. This is crucial when one of the main aims of the OTW website is to facilitate easy donations from visitors - the website needed to make this as simple as possible on laptops, tablets and phones.

 

We implemented an improved user interface, simplified navigation menus and internal search.

Entry-level admin tools​

The team at Over The Wall are experts in delivering world-class care and support to ill children and their families, however, not many of them are web developers!

 

The new website needed to be as intuitive as possible to enable all staff and volunteers to update and manage pages. We created a simplified page builder to create content using Elementor. We then provided quickstart WordPress training and onboarding.

High-ranking SEO​

As charities compete for the attention and donations of the public and businesses, as well as visibility for the people they help, it is more important than ever that websites maintain a good search engine ranking.

 

We ensured that the design and infrastructure of the site would translate to improved SEO, meaning better results in search engines like Google.
